Bringing Magic and Light to Life Through Art
I find a lot of enjoyment in creating and painting landscapes with a light surreal fantasy feel;
giant mushrooms, lush green rollings hills you can imagine sitting on looking into the distant sky, or walking across as you feel a warm gentle breeze caress you as the soft long grass blows softly against your legs, horizons that merge into the infinite, places that are peaceful, calming and serene, landscapes where the mind wanders into imagination, the places where your soul yearns for away from the unease of the daily world.
Living a spiritually centred life is of great importance to me, and through this, I have found a lot of peacefulness and joy, which I convey in my landscapes to a degree, though some of my other work is specifically focused on expressing deeper spiritual meanings and experiences. I hope these artworks inspire others towards a more peaceful joyful life themselves, even within the darkest times.
Artistic Process
I work in layers using acrylic paints. The fact they dry is quite an advantage in this approach. Through extensive layering in some paintings, a luminous glowing effect is achieved, something that is particularly noticeable when viewing in person.
Some artwork ideas begin as intricate ink sketches, detailed and raw just flowing naturally. Others evolve through color, with markers and pencils breathing life between the lines.
Some of my artwork flows purely from within, guided by intuition rather than a fixed vision. These are the pieces that seem to emerge on their own, revealing themselves through the process. Others are inspired by the world around me—the lush rainforest, the golden light filtering through the trees, the feeling of stepping into an untouched, sacred space.
No matter the medium, my goal is the same: to create art that evokes uplifting feelings.
I have a great interest in cloud formations, I often go on cloud photography adventures which I later use as inspiration for my work.
Size certainly matters in my work with certain features;
Giant mushrooms, epic clouds, enormous and unusual cliffs and mountains,
they are what give a surreal sublime feeling, to feel as though walking through worlds that are definitely somewhere else than here, that invoke happy, tranquil and serene feelings, lands filled with ideas of great adventures, a sense of wonder of the mystery of the distant horizon.
Testimonials
I worked with Espie in 2021 when I was decorating my office. I wanted three paintings, and I had a specific style in mind, along with specific themes and colors. I was incredibly impressed and pleased with the care Espie took to truly understand what I was going for. We had several calls, as well as back-and-forth messages, to make sure he really grasped what I wanted. He sent me sketches and was always receptive to ideas and feedback. I couldn’t be more pleased with the final results of the paintings. Espie took my ideas and executed them better than I could have ever imagined, drawing from his seemingly never-ending creativity. Years later, I look at the paintings in my office and still find new intricacies to appreciate. The colors are absolutely stunning. It’s clear how much pride Espie takes in his work and how much he cares about every step in the process, from understanding my vision, to sketching out ideas, to the actual painting, and then to varnishing and mounting with his own beautifully made frames. If you want a true professional who is intensely creative as well as an all-around kind and considerate human being, look no further than Espie. The quality of workmanship and value you will receive is second to none.
