Description
I arrived late to Kuranda Roots Festival, and it was dark when I arrived. As I hadn’t been there before, I was unclear of the layout of the festival and camping area. I decided to just setup ‘somewhere’, the next morning I saw these trees in front of my 4wd. I really liked the shaped and positioning of the trees and I noticed how they appeared to be in a circle.
I did a sketch of the trees, then further developed the sketch. The trees looked like a circle of elders, and I could envision something in the middle of the circle. This is where I added a stump and mushrooms.
I started painting this artwork at Rootbound festival, then kept working on it at Mushroom Valley festival both outside the art gallery and also at the main stage area.
